A Sea of Shuttles & Buses

Everyone has been called to be a fisher of men, from church leadership to the members of the congregation. We are surrounded by opportunities or schools of fish in our lives, and our mission is critical. Each church builds their communities, and it is imperative to have the resources available to do so.

There are many benefits to owning and leasing a new or used bus, shuttle, coach or van for your church.

  1. Transporting children, teens and elderly to regularly scheduled services
  2. Providing a way for children to attend vacation bible school, church camps and youth outings
  3. Encouraging mission trips and outreach programs for your adult members

With all of this in mind, the sea of transportation options can be overwhelming. Start with a few basic questions to help narrow down your search. An experienced representative can help determine what would be the best solution for your church based on your budget, buying terms and needs.

Questions to Consider

  1. How many passengers do you need to transport?
  2. Will the majority of travel be short distances or long distances? Seating comfort can range from fabric seating to leatherette reclining seats with side sliders to widen the space between seats.
  3. Do you need cargo storage or luggage racks for volunteer supplies, mission trips or long travel?
  4. Do you have members with disabilities that may need a lift? There are several different mobility options available to meet your churches’ needs.
  5. Last but not least, what types of amenities or features do your members need for their travels?
  • Air conditioning
  • 110V/USB outlets
  • Audio/Video Systems

Used and Reconditioned Buses

Reconditioned buses are definitely worth considering for massive savings for your church…as long as you purchase from a reputable source. A reconditioned bus has more than a new coat of paint and tires, though. Be leery of prices that sound too good to be true or you’ll find the church drowning in repair costs.

The most important features of a reconditioned bus can be easy to spot, once you know where to look. The best place to start is by checking the undercarriage of the bus. Ensure there are no soft spots in the floor. Ask what state the bus was purchased from; was it in a Northern state that sees a lot of salt and snow? What type of recent mechanical work has been done? Check for seams on the body where water could leak. Check the quality of brakes and tires. It is always wise to have an independent mechanic do a thorough inspection.
